The Auger collaboration is made up of more than 350 scientists from Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Vietnam. The project started in 1992 at a meeting of a few scientists in Paris. The collaboration continues to grow. At present there are about 70 institutes from around the world working in the project including about 16 from the United States. More information about the Auger project is available at the overall Auger project web site. Colorado research universities have been involved in the Auger project since 1996, and currently three are working on the Auger project. Here are contacts at these institutions:
All of the people above, along with Brad Thompson of Lamar Community College and Dan Tate of SECED, have joined to form a group called C3R2. This stand for Colorado Coalition for Cosmic Ray Research. The purpose of the coalition is to promote the establishment of the Auger North observatory in southeastern Colorado. |
